Dr. Johnson's Interview
Did you write for fun when you were at school?
Most certainly, I loved writing at school - I had brilliant teachers throughout my school life, especially at St. Richard’s Primary School.
Have you always earned your living as a writer? If not, what else have you done/do you still do?
At first I wrote while teaching at George Headley Primary in Jamaica and continued when I migrated to the USA to study. I have also worked as a consultant for colleges and universities. Now I have started my own publishing company Shawn Johnson & Associates and have written and published a number of books.
When was your first book published and what was it called?
My first book Communication Tasks for GSAT was published in 2002.
Was it difficult to get your first book published?
No. My first book was published by one of my friends who owns a publishing company. He really liked the concept.

My favourite children's book is Merry Jamaican Christmas by Al Campbell.
Do you use a computer or write drafts long hand?
